Warren is a hidden gem located in the central west region of New South Wales, Australia. It is a small town that locals describe as “just right” – not too big, not too small. Although it may not be the most well-known region of Australia, there are definitely some interesting facts to know about Warren.

- Warren is known for its unique silo art. The silos were painted by the renowned Australian artist, John Murray, in 2016. The artwork portrays the flora and fauna of the Macquarie Marshes, a natural wonder located in the region. The silo art has become a popular attraction for tourists who come to Warren to see the beautiful artwork.

- The Macquarie Marshes is a treasure that Warren is proud to boast about. The wetlands are a UNESCO biosphere reserve and are home to over 200 bird species. It is also one of the largest semi-permanent wetlands in Australia and is crucial for maintaining the region’s biodiversity.

- Warren’s history is rich, dating back centuries before European settlement. The local Wiradjuri people inhabited the land for thousands of years and had a deep connection to the surrounding environment. Visitors can learn more about the Wiradjuri people’s traditional practices and cultural heritage at the Warren Visitor Information Centre.

- The Nevertire Irrigation Scheme is one of the most important industries in the region. The scheme was established in the 1960s and has been providing water to local farmers ever since. The fertile land in the region is perfect for crops such as wheat, barley, and cotton.

- Warren has been home to a number of notable Australians, including actress Heather Mitchell and politician Dawn Fardell. The town has also been visited by famous names such as Queen Elizabeth II and former Prime Minister John Howard.

- The Warren Show is one of the most popular events in the town’s calendar. The agricultural show has been running since 1906 and attracts visitors from all over the state. The event includes livestock competitions, rides, food stalls, and much more.

- The Warren Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course that is considered to be one of the finest in the region. The challenging course is perfect for avid golfers and is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Warren may not be one of the most well-known regions in Australia, but it is definitely worth a visit. From the unique silo art to the stunning Macquarie Marshes, there is plenty to discover in this beautiful part of the country.
